FAQ

Why is my floor cupping?
Cupping is usually caused by excessive moisture in crawl space or slab.

Why is my floor crowning?
Crowning is usually caused when flooring is sanded when the floor is in a cupped condition. If the floor is pre-finished while in a cupped state when the floor re-accumulates the edges of the boards hard bear sanded off which leaves the center of the board thicker than the edges.

What is Engineered Flooring?
This product can be a very good option for some applications. For installation on a concrete slab this is the preferred product. These products are usually 3/8”, 5/8”, or ½” with a veneer panel of hardwood over plywood. These products usually can’t be refinished. For people who want wide plank floors and want them to be stable in the house there are ¾” products with 3-6 mill layer of additional over 9 ply birch plywood that can be refinished as many times as solid floor.

What are Lamented Floor?
Laminates are just what they say. A bunch of veneers glued together and is not wood. It is a picture of wood. These products are usually ???? installed and will last a long time if cared for.

What do they mean when they say Solid Flooring?
Solid wood flooring is just what is sounds like ¾ solid oak or whatever species you prefer. If your going with a standard 2 ¼ or 3 ¼ red or white oak we would suggest a pre-sealed product that is unfinished but dipped in sealer to all 6 sides and sealed. Some prefinished products also come in pre-sealed. As far as larger planks depending on where you are located this should be installed by a qualified floor specialist acclimated correctly and still these products may not be guaranteed by your flooring supplier because of excessive movement after installation
